Okay, I love, absolutely love, Blue Sky Alpaca’s Organic Cotton yarn! It is soooo soft soooo fluffy and soooo pretty and it is knitting up soooo great.
Can you tell I am really, really liking it? I am using it to knit up the Lilac Top that is in the latest Knitter’s magazine. I started out knitting it in a variegated cotton that I had, but the variegation in colors just didn’t do justice to the stitch pattern. Then I decided to use the Organic Cotton that I had gotten from Knit Wits in Greensburg to make it. Perfect choice if I do say so…

I have 900 yards. The 46” chest size takes 1185 yards. A bit short, so I called Knit-Wits to get more in color 81… They have 80, 82, and 83… They now have color 81, Sand, on its way to them. I am leaving for Maine and Massachusetts next Saturday so keep your fingers crossed! If it is the same “dye lot” then I only need three skeins… if it is different then probably five, maybe four. Not really a dye lot because it is non-dyed yarn, I guess more of a production lot? I should have the back done by the time it comes in so I will have a better idea of how much it takes anyway…
Tomorrow night is Sit n Knit in Monroeville at Denny’s since it is the fifth Monday… I should get some progress done on both this top and maybe the fluffy pink poncho that is also on the needles.
So, my trip to Maine and Massachusetts… I have training in Massachusetts from the 6th to the 10th. Since Maine really is not that much further I am getting an opportunity to go visit my Dad. Rather then flying in, getting a rental car, and then having to pay for the personal use portion of the rental, I am driving. The portion of the trip from home to Mass. is expensable at 40.5 cents per mile so it will more then pay for gas and such. Of course it is a twelve plus hour drive from here to Dad’s so my sanity is in question.
I am leaving Saturday morning, going to my Dad’s, leaving there Sunday night, going to training, leaving training Friday afternoon, driving back up to Dad’s, and then driving home Sunday. That second Saturday and then Sunday when I am driving is the Maine Fiber Frolic. I am exercising great restraint and not planning to go. After all, I am going there to visit family, not fiber shop.
Knitting is a gateway drug. We are close to hitting the hard stuff now. Observe:

This picture was taken Friday night. If I would have taken another picture tonight you would see some walls up. This is the future home of some Lou-lou llamas…
