Yesterday I stopped by a yarn store… I know, amazing isn’t it?

It just so happened to be my second trip ever to my favorite LYS… Knit Wits Inc. in Greensburg PA… How did they become my favorite after only two trips? Because of the service and personality of the owner. (There are two owners but I’ve only met one so far)

See, in this day and age I can order everything online. So the differentiating factor to me is service.

And Knit Wits makes me happy when I walk in. Marianne is friendly and upbeat. You can tell she loves what she is selling. Let me repeat that, You can tell she really loves what she is selling. Doesn’t that make all the difference? She is helpful when you are looking for something… All those little unquantifiable things that make up service. And one of the things I love, she’s always got something nice to say about another store if you mention them… She doesn’t get that “you were in another yarn store” look about her like so many stores do. That is a plus (like the Santa at Macy’s in “A Miracle on 34th St”) And the yarn… oh my, the yarn. Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful!

And, in case you are interested, they just got in a sh*tload of Blue Sky Alpaca yarns and they melt into your skin like butter….

Contrast that to the store I will not name in Squirrel Hill where I walked in, one of three customers in the store, four employees. No eye contact, no “may I help you”. I wandered around for a few minutes and then, as I pushed the door open to leave… “Can I help you find something tonight?” I answered, “Not now” and left.

No pictures of yarn purchases from my trip to Knit Wits though… I bought a swift to help me wind up the existing stash!

Should have some pictures later today.
