I am still in the land of the living

Though the land of the lost is more descriptive!

The first Sit Stitch Knit Bitch in Washington was very cool! Sherry showed up as well as Jill and her Mother-in-Law. Lark was also there but didn’t stay long enough for the picture taking…

It was great fun! Sherry was working on an awesome sweater that you can see hereJill was working on what appears to be an incredibly soft and comfy fitted tee as well as she had her Kiri shawl in Koigu with her. Her mother-in-law was working on socks in a really pretty self patterning yarn. Lark was working on a garter stitch scarf and brought along two of her finished scarves. I was working on my Koigu wrap whose fate is detailed farther along in today’s novella.

Now, needless to say, the SSKB was the high point of my week… But the fun never stopped it just changed to a different definition of fun… Thursday morning I went to a breakfast meeting… breakfast was at 7:30, the meeting started at 8:00. At 7:25 I was walking from my truck to the hotel entrance – looked down and realized that I had grabbed my bright brown pants rather then my black ones that are identical to them – my shirt was blue and black, my nylons were black, and I had on black flats….

Granted, I am not a fashionista in the least but really… that was bad. So I got back into my truck, drove to Target – not open ’til 8, no good – drove to Wal-Mart, tried on a pair of black pants, bought them, changed into them and got back to the hotel and walked into the meeting at 2 minutes to 8!

That should have been the first clue that it might be an interesting day…

That afternoon I left work at 2 because I had a change scheduled for that night, got about an exit away when Jane from EGA called… would I like to stop over and pick up the patterns that she’s storing that we’re going to sell to raise money for the guild. Sure, no problem… it should only take about a half hour to get to her house… An hour and a half later I was 4 miles from where I started – I just kept getting turned around and doing circles.

I did finally get to Jane’s… she ended up walking me turn by turn from where I ended up ’til I got there.

Went home, took a two hour nap, got up and left the house at 10PM to go to do the changes. It was a replacement router that needed configured. Cisco sent it after they deduced that it was a chassis issue that was causing our problem… it wasn’t… I got home at 4AM. Here’s a picture of the road that leads to the site I was making the changes at. It may be too dark to really see it since I shrunk it. Basically it shows a road that, as I was driving, following the tech, brush was scraping the sides of the truck.

Saturday morning I had a dentist appointment for a cleaning and a filling, more joyous fun. After that I ran to Eckerd and got two boxes of hair dye (Nutrisse – Buy One, Get One Sale) Not dyeing my hair until after I get my perm but I know the color it’ll be LOL… Getting some dye to brighten up my hair was already on my mind… thanks Cheryl :D So then I read Saturday afternoon that Cheryl frosted her hair as well! Maybe it’s the Spring in the air…

My Koigu wrap? The one I was about two skeins into? What about it you ask? Where are more pictures? When did I start in on skein three? What great progress have I made? Um… none. It took a dip in the frog pond. I decided I didn’t like the color change I was doing.

See I started out with five skeins of colorway 126 which is a rainbow on a base of blues… when I started into the fan and feather type pattern I was doing I decided that I needed more skeins to make it the size that I wanted… Got four skeins of a colorway which is pinks and blues. Did not like the way the two colorways were going together even though the blues and pinks of the second one were in the first… The pattern itself that I was following is beautiful… The picture above doesn’t show the second colorway but trust me it didn’t look that great.

Found five skeins of the colorway that I originally bought, the 126, at Yarnzilla. It will be fine if it isn’t the same dye lot because it will be five and five… maybe alternating, maybe I’ll do the first five and then the second five… it really depends on when I finish the first skein versus when UPS shows up versus what dyelot it is versus the way the planets align tomorrow. LOL! So here it is now:

I have to say I’ve been impressed with yet another online yarn store… Yarnzilla. I ordered the yarn at about 1:30, at 2:27 I got an e-mail that it shipped, at 2:54 I had another e-mail with the UPS tracking number!!! As of 1:50AM on 03/20 my yarn is somewhere between Maple Grove, MN and here…

And why am I up and alert and at my computer at 2AM on a Sunday you ask? Another work change… I’m not actually involved in doing the changes but am the point of contact for our region. What’s that mean? Basically I am on two seperate conference bridges passing information between the two. We’re about four hours into it now, probably another three to four to go. My boss is too great for words though… she says I am to not come in Monday which is an excellent trade as far as I’m concerned.

Monday night is the Sit & Knit in Monroeville and then the 28th will be the next in Washington. I look forward always to the as they are such a fun part of the week! Though I’ve learned my lesson about any pattern that requires me to count higher then five
