I have branched out… Originally I had my website posted on my ISP. Great ISP but I wanted my own domain name and more space and such so… here I am.

This all started being put into motion last weekend. I was updating my previous website, mainly because I am playing around with various web editors to be able to recommend a super easy one for an owner of a local yarn store. I think I found it… NetObjects Fusion 8… Makes my site look a whole lot better then me and a text editor have done in the past… Anyhow, while I was uploading I got the message that my disk quota was full… So, with the Super Bowl commercial for godaddy.com and that prompting me… I picked a domain name and here we are.

As part of my migration I also updated this blog. I guess I am joining in on the knitting blog craze. Leaving my LiveJournal as my weight loss (or lack thereof) whine spot for now and turning this into my public expression of my yarn obsession.

To that end I have to show you my current projects (as of February 6th) on the needles…

First… socks. This is the second pair of socks I have attempted. The first pair, while very nice, don’t fit me. These do. I made sure of it.

Done up in Regia Ringel 5048

Second… this is a shawl… I think. Maybe sort of a capelet. I saw these two yarns on Dyed in the Wool’s table at the Knitter’s Day Out in Pittsburgh on January 29th and thought they would look cool together. I started a diagonal bias scarf with them… didn’t like the way the decrease side was going so I ripped it out and cast on approximately 190 stitches… not quite long enough to be a scarf but I’m thinking shawl… maybe add a button or two at the end and turn it into sort of a capelet?

This is a close up of the yarn… Berroco Quest and Knit One, Crochet Too Tartelette

After I finish I have plans for a large shawl done up in four different types of Fiesta Yarns all in the Clematis colorway… Not sure yet if it is going to be a rectangle or a triangle yet…

Other planned projects… some toe-up socks, a scarf in a gorgeous Trendsetter Rainbow colored ribbon yarn… and other stash inspired projects…

So two Wednesday nights ago (the 2nd) I went to a “Sit and Knit” a.k.a. “Stitch and Bitch” in Monroeville at the Cafe in Borders… SOOO much fun! I met a bunch of really nice ladies. Two of them are linked over on the right under “Blogs I Read” (Cheryl of Out of the Box and Jill of Purl Up With A Good Yarn) Here’s a picture I took of the event… Camera phones come in handy!

I’m thinking of starting one in Washington because I’m not aware of any in the area. Since the Monroeville one (and a couple others that I’ve seen in the Pittsburgh area) are on the first Wednesday (and the third Wednesday for some others) and the third Monday at first I was thinking of doing the second and the forth Wednesday… but now I am really leaning toward the second and forth Mondays. It is still in the planning stage.
