I have had so much fun over the past ten days! (I almost feel like I’ve joined the human race again)

Last weekend Lark and I went to Hershey for CATS. We got there at about 9pm on Friday, checked in and headed out to investigate the hotel (and find the other stitchers). Wow, how very neat to see so many people sitting around talking and stitching, as up ’til then neither Lark nor I knew any other stitchers around here. We didn’t bring any projects with us, knowing we would get in late Friday and be visiting the shopping mart at the festival first thing Saturday so we just stopped and chatted with a couple ladies then went to the bar, had two drinks and then went back up to the room and went to bed.

Saturday morning we got up to the alarm, went to breakfast then headed to the shopping mart. What a selection! So much stuff to stitch… so little time (or money)! I ended up buying four kits (one from a mini class), one small chart, a piece of 40ct silk gauze, and got a couple freebie charts too. Oh, and a pair of scissors so I could keep working on the kit I started in the mini class (pansies on 23ct silk gauze). We can’t wait to go next year! We’re planning on attending all three days if possible and I’d like to take some classes.

Went to the Hershey Museum and Hershey’s Chocolate World on Sunday. Even though I’ve lived in Pennsylvania all my life, I’d never been to Hershey before. The fumes alone are likely worth 3500 calories! Then we headed home, after dropping Lark off I got home at about 4:30. Made better time on the trip home then the trip there, as it was daylight the whole way home. Only took about 3.5 hours or so, hard to gauge as we stopped to have lunch and get gas.

I have been doing mostly crochet and hadn’t finished a cross stitch in a couple months (since I finished the baby sampler for my step-sis’s new baby). But, it is still too warm to work long on the afghan I have going, so I have been stitching like crazy since I got back from Hershey.

This past Friday I headed out to Teatime Stitchery in Monroeville. On Fridays they have “open stitching” where you can come in, grab a seat and stitch and chat. Very nice time and I got some work done on a Dimensions kit I hadn’t worked on in a while… They’re closed next week as Virginia (the owner) and her husband are going on vacation but I plan on going again on the 10th unless I’m lucky enough to have found a new job by then. Of course I found a chart and some floss, in addition to what I had planned on getting, a frame for the pansies. I didn’t end up getting an actual frame, instead it’s a trinket jar and the lid holds the stitchery. Quite pretty! So many charts that I would love to stitch but I’m behaving (mostly) on adding to my stash!

Then yesterday I headed north to an EGA meeting, the Three Rivers chapter. Before I went I was a bit apprehensive about feeling out of place as I’m no expert at embroidery and wasn’t sure cross stitch qualifies. 😉 However, they are extraordinarily accepting of everyone with an interest in needleworking and yes, cross stitch qualifies. 🙂 I’ll definitely be going back next month.

So, as to what else has been going on with my life… still searching for a new job. Sending out a lot of resumes, getting a few phone interviews and hoping something comes through soon. I’m sure it will. 🙂 Hey, I believe the glass is half full too!

Have a few more pictures to take to add to my crafts page (under hobbies link above) but that will have to wait until tomorrow, after my daily job search and resume sendout, as it’s getting late and I need my beauty sleep soon. I really need the beauty sleep… would you believe I found a f***ing grey hair(s) last night? F***ing is the only way to describe it… F***ing 31 years old and I found a f***ing grey hair. GRRR!

Night!
