Weekends aren’t long enough.

So yesterday, right after I wrote my post, Lark called. I’d forgotten that we were planning on going out to get the pieces and parts for a canvaswork project our EGA Guild (Three Rivers EGA) is doing. I am (big surprise here) not following the directions. So while the colors on the booklet may look purple, and they are, my colors are different. For one… I don’t like gold so I’m doing silvers. Then I decided that I wanted reds. Assuming I ever finish it I think it will be pretty.

We weren’t sure if we needed to have the supplies for next meeting so we decided to be prepared.

We went up to The Noble Craftsman for the cross stitch supplies. They also have a nice little selection of yarns that I would consider scarf yarns for the most part as well as a some sock yarns. We both had a 10% off any yarn coupon for there from the Knitter’s Day Out function so I picked up a ball of Artful Yarns mohair that will knit up to a lacy but likely warm scarf.

Then we headed up to Sewickley for a trip to Yarns Unlimited. I really enjoyed their table at the Knitter’s Day Out and wanted to visit their store to see the Koigu… OH MY! What an incredible selection of yarn they have! I bought five skeins of Koigu to make a shawl… While many other yarns called out to me… some even screamed to come home with me I behaved myself and only purchased the Koigu which I was planning on getting.

We were going to leave there and go to Knit-Wits but being that Sewickley and Greensburg are about an hour and twenty minutes apart we decided that the trip to Knit-Wits should be put on a bit of a hold (we wouldn’t have made it by closing time). So, I still didn’t get a swift. While Montey is always willing to oblige with a extra set of arms I would like the ease of a swift as most of my yarn needs wound before use.

Tomorrow night is Sit & Knit in Monroeville. I’m looking quite forward to it as the last one was so much fun. Very neat to sit and chit-chat about patterns and yarns and needles with others who get the obsession!!!

Monday, February 21st will likely be the first Sit & Knit in Washington that I’m looking to organize… Just a few more details that I should have worked out by Tuesday… Watch this space for more information.

The shawl is coming along nicely… I think I will need one more skein of Quest to make it work out without much extra… I’m going to call Dyed in the Wool tomorrow to see if they still have the color and dye lot… if not I’ll have a skein of Tartellette to take back and it won’t be as big.

Neither cat had anything to add on today’s subject.
