Yesterday, with Cheryl, I went to my first spinning guild meeting. Natasha was the first to fill us in that there was one in Greensburg AND it met on Saturdays but she didn’t make it. At first I didn’t think I was going to but then, once the day dawned grey and miserable, I decided to go after all. We had a great time and are planning on going back next month.
I didn’t know if people brought their wheels or what, so I didn’t. I didn’t even think to take roving and the drop spindle… Cheryl on the other hand DID remember to bring her drop spindle and produced a bit of yarn during the meeting until her spindle got persnickety. I also didn’t think to take my camera so I have no pictures of the day. It was a very pleasant day, with a nice bunch of folks, with beautiful yarns and sweaters (from known sheep none the less!)
There was a couple there that also have llamas! They have four of them. She was making some yarn that looked like Christmas – that’s what the colorway of the roving reminded me of – reds and greens. Another of the ladies has sheep (which is where the sweaters from the known sheep had their roots.) I really wish that I was much better at names… I can picture each of the people there, describe them, tell you what kind of wheel they had and probably tell you what the colors of the roving they were spinning was… but tell you their name? My mind goes blank.
I’ve not ever shown my spinning on here but here is some of my yarn, two-ply, which I dyed with kool-aid. I haven’t given it its washing after the dyeing so it still smells fruity. The strange looking strings everywhere is cotton which I used to tie up the hanks.
On the knitting front, I finished a scarf for charity that I started on while at Knit One last weekend ( Sherry – It’s new, in Squirrel Hill )
Worked on the entrelac purse this weekend as well. I am trying to decide on the next round. It will either start over again from the top (the light purple) or be a round of black, then start over from the light purple. the more I think of it, the more I am leaning towards the black as I plan to pick up the stitches around the top and put on about two inches of ribbing and it would flow much better with my planned handles if I made that black… but to do that I’d need black in the body of the bag as well. Okay. That’s it. Next round is black. Glad I got the opportunity to talk that out. Anyhow, here is the bag at this point, I am loving it!
And, believe it or not, I worked on the Beige Lilac Top as well! Unbelievable, I know! It’s been a while since it has seen the light of day. I finished the shoulder shaping, seamed the shoulders together, picked up the stitches for the neckline and finished it as well. Next up is the seaming of the sides then picking up the stitches for the armholes and knitting them. It is supposed to be a sleeveless sweater but I may yet put some sleeves into it… I don’t do sleeveless. I’m not real fond of beige either. (No, I am not sure why I picked this pattern, nor this yarn, but it seemed like a really good idea at the time)
I didn’t take any pictures of the llamas this weekend but I did snap some of the kitties as I was taking pictures of the various knitting projects. As you can see, they were thrilled.
