September 2013: South of Pittsburgh, 41, married, three indoor cats, one llama, varying numbers of outside cats.
I love to sew: clothes, bags, quilts… depends on my mood but I sew at least a little bit almost every weekend. I crochet also, that’s mostly during the week in the winter. I used to knit but it takes too long to finish anything so I don’t really anymore. Other crafts come and go.
I work at a specialized school for students that are Deaf or hard-of-hearing as well as having an emotional disturbance or autism.
I have lost 45ish pounds since the beginning of the year with 33ish left to my (long-term) goal, 8 to my next short-term goal of 175. How’d I do it? Nothing magic… Diet and Exercise. (Calories in, calories out.)
At the beginning of August I took up running following the C25K program. Before that I’d never run in my life, at least not because I’d wanted to… with my job there have been times I had to run because of a crisis but that would be short bursts.
Then, August 11, 2013, I quit smoking. I picked the 11th as my quit date because my mom died August 11, 1995 so I figured I’d remember the date… I’m a pound heavier on September 13th so I don’t see that as too bad.
So this blog is about my life and it’s kind of random.
January 2016 update:
I switched careers in 2015
I gained back all the weight I lost
I haven’t exercised in months
Only one of three of those changes is a good thing…

So, the tag line “you never know” is so true. Still married, still have cats and a llama, still love to sew. Career change went awesome and I enjoy going to work (crazy, I know!) I’ve started exercising again, lifting weights. I joke that I’ll compete when I’m 50. Stay tuned.

Fat again and starting over.
Two cats, one llama, three fish tanks.
